Portland Homeless Shelter Guests Leave Brutal One-Star Reviews

PORTLAND, OR – Portland’s alternative homeless shelters are getting hammered after a recent survey revealed widespread complaints about food, maintenance, staff, and residents being asked to leave.

The city provides small individual sleeping pods in designated shelter villages, but apparently some guests were expecting something closer to a beachfront resort.

The reviews have been brutal.

⭐☆☆☆☆ “FALSE ADVERTISING”

“Was told I’d be getting my own private residence. Turns out it’s a shed with a bed. Asked about the master bedroom and the fella pointed at the other end of the shed. THERE IS NO OTHER END.”

⭐⭐☆☆☆ “TERRIBLE LOCATION”

“Requested an oceanfront unit. They put me next to a chain-link fence overlooking a dumpster. Asked about the hot tub. Manager said there wasn’t one. Then why the hell do they call it a village?”

⭐☆☆☆☆ “RUDE STAFF”

“Requested a wake-up call for 11:30. Some jackass knocked at 7. Explained that I was on vacation from being homeless. He told me breakfast was almost over. Absolutely unacceptable.”

⭐⭐☆☆☆ “DISAPPOINTING DINING EXPERIENCE”

“Asked whether dinner came with a wine pairing. Lady handed me a carton of milk. Requested to speak with the chef. Apparently the chef is a microwave.”

⭐☆☆☆☆ “NO ROOM UPGRADES”

“Been here four months. Asked about moving into a larger pod. Manager said they’re all the same size. Asked about the presidential suite. He told me to try Washington, DC.”

⭐☆☆☆☆ “TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE”

“Asked for late checkout. Management said I had to leave. Explained that I hadn’t finished my vacation. They offered to help me pack. Will be contacting corporate.”

⭐⭐☆☆☆ “NO LOYALTY PROGRAM”

“Six months here and not one complimentary upgrade. No reward points, no chocolates on the pillow, and the concierge refuses to carry my shopping cart. Starting to question whether this place even deserves three stars.”

Portland officials have yet to address the growing hospitality crisis.

One furious guest has reportedly threatened to contact the Better Business Bureau, while another demanded a full refund.

Management immediately offered to return every penny he’d paid.

Despite the terrible reviews, occupancy remains strong, with several residents reportedly considering extended stays.

Portland’s alternative shelter survey is real, and actual concerns involving safety, staff conduct, maintenance, and shelter exits deserve serious attention. The Coostucky Chronicle has never reviewed a homeless pod village, although our travel department has stayed in worse accommodations while hunting elk.
